Shiloh Lane Farm
Goshen, Kentucky
Shiloh Lane Farm began with a client who wanted to build a new farm for her jumping and show horses on a beautiful parcel of land north of Louisville, Kentucky. CMW was initially retained to help develop an overall farm masterplan, from which the barn and arena design would be based. The resulting 13 stall stable incorporates a number of special features which add to the functionality and attractiveness of the facility. These features include custom stall fronts with open yokes, individual stall run outs, rubber brick aisle flooring, prefinished wall and ceiling materials; automatic fly spray system; and extensive natural lighting and ventilation. Support spaces include two Tack Rooms, Interior and exterior Wash Stalls, Laundry Room , Veterinarian Exam Stall, Hay and Bedding Storage, Farm Office, and Owner’s Lounge with toilet. Waste and manure disposal is addressed by the inclusion of a covered “off loading” dock. A ramp from the barn allows wheelbarrows to be simply dumped down into a parked manure spreader, thus avoiding the need to lift and manhandle heavy buckets of muck. A second floor one-bedroom apartment is located over the center aisle of the barn with views out to the surrounding paddocks, as well as into the interior of the stable. Access to the apartment is via a separate vestibule with access from the exterior or from the barn aisle. One of the most prominent features at Shiloh Lane Farm is the Indoor Riding Arena. At 120 ft wide by 220 feet in length, it can accommodate almost any jump configuration or use desired by the Owner and has direct access from the barn. A fully conditioned Viewing and Observation Lounge with Toilet and Kitchen facilities is provided for visitors and family. The Arena is furnished with an automated dust suppression system; low-speed fans, skylights, sound system and a surrounding banked rail. CMW’s services included overall farm master planning, stable and arena design and enginee
