Chef Space is a unique small business incubator developed by Lexington based Community Ventures. Community Ventures is a small business incubator developing and launching sustainable new business ventures. This adaptive reuse project repurposes an existing building in Louisville’s historic West End, as a catalyst for new business revitalization in a reemerging community. This is a fully licensed and certified commercial kitchen with state-of-art food service equipment. The concept for Chef Space is to create a member based entrepreneurial community of like-minded culinary artist, dedicated to the development of new concepts and products in food service. The design for Chef Space includes a Bake Kitchen, Hot Kitchen, Confectioners Kitchen, Smoke Kitchen, Flex Kitchen and Isolation Kitchen, all organized around a central equipment resource center. In addition Chef Space is an operations center for member food truck operators with secure parking and turnover services for mobile food service entrepreneurs. The business center refines and coaches new business owners in the development of their ideas, and the test market “Chef Shop” affords members a venue for test operations for their concepts.
