Buckhorn Children's Home Cottages
Buckhorn, Kentucky
The Presbyterian Child Welfare Agency places children and teenagers in a family setting. To help accomplish this goal, CMW designed prototypical cottages that contain in general, eight bedrooms, a great room with skylights and fireplace, kitchen and dining facilities and resident parents’ living quarters. The cottages were designed to include large porches that invite the beautiful rural scenery into the children’s homes. Residential finishes were incorporated to accent the family atmosphere within the one-story facility. The cottages utilize natural stonework and cedar siding, or brick and vinyl siding, depending on their location and are placed in rural surroundings. Site features include basketball goals and support facilities.
